  1. Unexplained bruises or injuries
  2. Discoloration, pain, or bleeding in, on, or around genitals
  3. Pain during urination or bowel movements
  4. Symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. Visit the CDC website for a fact sheet on STDs.
  5. Abrupt changes in academic performance
  6. Increase in anxiety
  7. Mood swings
  8. Symptoms of depression: persistent sadness, withdrawal from friends or activities, changes in sleep patterns, loss of appetite
  9. Talk of suicide, suicidal behaviors, and/or self-harming behaviors
  10. Change in self-care: decrease in personal hygiene and attention to appearance
  11. New or increased alcohol or drug use
